What is a food baby?

A food baby, also known as a "food baby bump," is a term used to describe the bloated or distended stomach that often occurs after eating a large meal. This sensation is caused by the expansion of the stomach and intestines due to the amount of food consumed. It can make a person's stomach appear larger than normal and can sometimes be uncomfortable or even painful.

Food babies are temporary and typically resolve on their own as the body digests the food and returns to its normal size. Some people may find relief from symptoms by drinking water, taking a walk, or avoiding certain trigger foods that tend to cause bloating. In some cases, persistent bloating or discomfort after eating may be a sign of a more serious digestive issue and should be discussed with a healthcare provider.
